The Montessori Classroom

​Indoors
Montessori education embraces simplicity, beauty, order and elegance. Inside our classroom our children are surrounded by a carefully prepared environment that supports their "absorbent mind" and helps their complete development. 

In keeping with the requirements established by Association Montessori International, we provide an authentic Montessori classroom experience, which must:

• Include one AMI trained teacher at the appropriate age level. 
• Feature a mixed, three-year age group in each class
• Have an appropriate number of children to ensure social development
• Be driven by a three-hour uninterrupted work period in the morning and a 2-3 hour work period in the afternoon
• Have a complete set of materials for each class from a manufacturer authorized by AMI.

Mary Shultz is our AMI teacher. Our curriculum includes: Mathematics, Language, Sensorial, Practical Life, Music, Art, Geography, Science and Cultural Studies. In addition to these basic areas, Botany, Cultural Awareness, Physical Education, Grace and Courtesy Lessons, Science, and Art Appreciation are all part of our daily schedule.  Schedule a Tour!

Outdoors
Our outdoor gardens are in full bloom during the spring, summer, and fall.  During the winter, the children are busy taking care of their plants to be transplanted in the spring.  Tomatoes, strawberries, various melons, cucumbers, peppers, carrots, and lettuce are grown within a few feet of our indoor environment. 

Our gardens provide children with a variety  of sensorial experiences.  Children can observe birds, plants, squirrels, rabbits, and butterflies from the classroom, deck, and patio. During recess, our children are free to explore our gardens as they run, climb, skip, hide, slide, and jump.   Schedule a Tour!
